Chemical Peels

Although our skin is able to replace old cells with new ones, over time this natural exfoliating process begins to slow down.Chemical peel treatment involves a solution of one or more exfoliating agents(such as AHA's) being applied to the face to remove the rough upper layer of skin and to stimulatre rejuvenation of the new skin cells. They generally result in tighter, smoother skin that is relatively free from fine lines and blemishes such as age spots and uneven pigmentation.

Chemical peels are classified as light (superficial), medium and deep according to the depth that they penetrate the skin. Light and medium facial peels are used to remove superficial wrinkles and discolouration, and deep chemical peels are used for more severe condition such as severe acne. Generally, the deeper the chemical peel the longer the recovery time required. After light chemical peels. Patients generally return to their normal activies immediately however mediem and deep chemical peels can take longer to heal.

Chemical peels can be repeated as necessary to acheive and maintain the desired results.
